- 1. What are LinksManager's Ethical Linking Guidelines?
- LinksManager was designed to facilitate editor based linking for the end user. LinksManager does NOT facilitate full duplex linking.
All LinksManager users are required to agree to the following Terms and Conditions prior to registering for a LinksManager account:
Myself or my account representatives understand that setting up links pages, resource pages, or search engine style directories should be for the benefit of your website visitors, not for the search engines. Using LinksManager to create pages intended solely for link popularity or tricking the search engines into higher rankings will result in account suspension or termination without notice. Myself or my account representatives understand that link categories and the links that appear within should be relevant to my own website's theme, genre, or focus. We understand that swapping links with a few quality, relevant websites has more value to our users than swapping links with hundreds of irrelevant websites. Setting up link categories and/or swapping links not directly related to our own website's theme, genre, or focus can result in account suspension or termination without notice. Myself or my account representatives understand that whether or not a website will reciprocate our link is not a good determination of that website's value. We understand the value of a link is determined by the relevancy of the website to our own website visitors. Myself or my account representatives understand that link swapping should be thoughtful, intentional, and performed manually, one link at a time, by humans, not scripts. Using LinksManager in conjunction with any outside script for any function, purpose, or automation will result in account suspension or termination without notice.
Myself or my account representatives understand that LinkPartners.com is a free service for responsible webmasters. Having a LinksManager account does not constitute a right to utilize LinkPartners.com service.

- 2. Does LinksManager allow use of the rel="nofollow" tag?
- Many of the major search engines are now seeing the rel="nofollow" tag.
This tag was designed primarily for sites where users can add links by themselves (without approval), including within comments, trackbacks, and referrer lists.
Because LinksManager is strictly an editor based link management application service, and each link is approved by each user, LinksManager will not allow users to utlize this tag at this time.
Please contact us if you have additional questions about LinksManager.

- Yes - The links pages generated by the LinksManager software are search engine friendly.
The links pages created when using LinksManager are static HTML, use NO hidden text or keywords that can only be seen by search engines, do NOT use frames, do NOT utilize doorway pages, and can sit on your own domain on your own web server.
In short, pages created with LinksManager are fully user friendly and search engine friendly too.

- 7. I've seen other LinksManager-powered pages that display a LinksManager graphic on them. Is this required?
- No - That graphic is a referral graphic that is not required. However, the "Powered by LinksManager" graphics and banners are a way for you to earn free LinksManager service.
When a user clicks the graphic visible on your site and signs up for a new LinksManager.com account, our system automatically knows it was you who referred the new user. The first time that user gets billed for service, you earn one free month of LinksManager service. There are no limits to the amount of referrals and free months of service you can earn. For this reason, many LinksManager customers choose to keep the "Powered by LinksManager" graphic on their links pages. The graphic can be turned off or on at any time. Displaying the graphic is always your choice.

- 10. What Is A "Footprint" And Does LinksManager Add One To My Links Pages?
- "Footprint" is a frequently used euphemism for code fragments inserted in web pages to empower such actions as managing dynamic site navigation elements or processing data entered in forms.
LinksManager, for example, uses a "post" Footprint to enable subscribers' forms to communicate with our servers and an optional "click-tracking" Footprint to tabulate the number of hits each of your links receives and rank them according to popularity. (You can add or remove the "click-tracking" Footprint from your links page(s) by selecting "Top Links List" from the Automation Preferences section of the LinksManager Control Panel.)
Like virtually all code used to create, format and add functionality to web pages, Footprints are essentially search-engine neutral and are ignored by web crawlers like Googlebot unless the action they are enabling involves an attempt to spam or scam the engines.
LinksManager is used by thousands of websites worldwide and every single one of those websites is indexed by the major search engines. Search engines do not penalize LinksManager users because the search engines realize that LinksManager is editor-based and complies with all published guidelines regarding link building.
