2. Is LinksManager compatible with Apple iMac and Macintosh computers?

Yes - Because the LinksManager system lives on our servers and not on your computer, it is fully compatible with all operating systems. All you need is an internet connection and a web browser. LinksManager suggests Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, or Netscape Navigator 4.0 or higher for use as your Internet web browser.

3. Do I have to serve my links pages from http://linksmanager.com/my_account_id ?

All LinksManager customers receive http://linksmanager.com/your_account_id. These pages are updated in almost realtime and they come in handy when you are setting up your account, configuring the cosmetic controls,
testing your account, etc.

Some of our customers who decide to serve their links pages from the http://linksmanager.com/your_account_id server do so because some do not have a choice as many web hosts do not offer FTP access. Some automated stores such as Yahoo! Store do not allow FTP so many LinksManager users choose to serve from http://linksmanager.com/your_account_id.

LinksManager service includes our enterprise FTP Upload Controls which automatically pushes your links pages to your server anytime they change. Serving your links pages from your server and domain provides the most benefit to improving link popularity and has a more professional look and feel.

4. Do I have to download or install any software to use LinksManager?

No - LinksManager is an Application Service (more on ASP's here: aspstreet.com). Because LinksManager is an ASP, you do not have to download or install any software on your computer or your web server. All that is needed to work with your LinksManager account is a computer with an internet connection. Regardless of whether you are at work, at home, or on the road with a laptop computer, you can continue to work with LinksManager and your links pages at any time, at any place.

5. How long will it take me to setup my LinksManager account and links pages?

Setup takes anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes depending on the level of customization you require. Some of our LinksManager customers use the default settings and have their links pages online in minutes. Some choose to expand upon the default settings to personalize their links pages even more.

Our online setup guide points you through the setup process, step-by-step, and even lets you know which steps are optional.

If you have better things to do with your time, LinksManager.com is offering free integrations for a limited time. We set up your account to exactly match the rest of your website, including fonts, colors, layouts, and themes. We can even suggest link categories, and set your links pages to be stored under your own website domain on your own web servers.

9. Is there any way I can install the LinksManager software on my web server?

No - Not at this time. LinksManager is best offered as an application service rather than a collection of software to install. By keeping LinksManager as an application service, users receive immediate upgrades and patches as they become available. In addition, there is never any software to download or install.

Included with your new account is a custom Control Panel that allows you to perform all of the necessary functions to maintain your new links pages. From this Control Panel, you will be able to categorize your links, add and approve new links, modify existing links, delete links, modify your links pages' cosmetics, and carry out other important tasks. The Control Panel is easy to use, with most functions being of a point-and-click nature.

14. Do I need multiple LinksManager licenses so more than one person can manage my links pages?

16. My webhost does not support/offer FTP. Is there another solution?

Yes. We have a solution that will make your links pages appear at the following address:

http://links.MYDOMAIN.com

However, the pages will continue to be hosted by LinksManager.com. The benefit to you is excellent as your links appear under your own domain but they still actually live on the LinksManager server. While your links don't appear under 'www' that should not matter -- the important part is that they're under your domain. Even Google and Yahoo! use a wide variety of alternatives to 'www' to seperate different functions of their site, for example:

http://answers.google.com
http://froogle.google.com
http://news.google.com
http://finance.yahoo.com
http://travel.yahoo.com

In order to implement this solution, we need you to make this request to your web host technical support staff. We suggest you copy and paste the following text below but make sure to change "MYDOMAIN.com" to your actual domain name:

----
Please add a CNAME record to the DNS record for MYDOMAIN.com, if you're using a BIND compatible DNS system, the entry should read as follows:

links 14400 IN CNAME cname.linksmanager.com.

LinksManager.com is a link management software application service that we use to manage our links pages. This change will allow my "Links Pages" to appear under my own domain. This request is made with the permission of LinksManager.Com.
----

Once your webhost acknowledges this change is complete, you should be able to put http://links.MYDOMAIN.Com into your web browser and see the LinksManager.Com front page. At that point, post a support ticket to LinksManager support via the Helpdesk, and we will make changes for you in your account so that links.MYDOMAIN.com brings up your links pages from the LinksManager.com server.
