Change Your Website Description In Your LinksManager Account

Changing the description of your website in your LinksManager account DOES NOT change your link description on sites that you have already traded links with.

  1. Click on Change Account Information in your left navigation menu
  2. Edit the Website Description text input box control.
  3. Click on Save Changes to submit your changes.
The new website description will now be included in the link back information that displays on your "Links Submitted Successfully" page when a webmaster submits a link to your site. The new description will also be included in all automated emails.

Change Your Website Description In LinkPartners.com

Changing the description of your website in LinkPartners account DOES NOT change your link description on sites that you have already traded links with.
  1. Visit http://linkpartners.com
  2. Click the Login button in the menu on the right.
  3. On the login screen, enter your LINKSMANAGER account user ID and password.
  4. Once you are logged in, click on the Edit button in the menu on the right.
  5. On the Edit LinkPartners Settings control page, scroll down to the Include a short description of your site control and enter a new description for your website.
  6. Scroll down to and click on Save Changes.
Your new website description will be review by LinkPartners administration who will then either approve your new description or contact you regarding necessary changes. Once your description has been approved, your link should be updated with the new description within 24 hours.

Create Customized <TITLE> Tags For Individual Categories

You can create customized <TITLE> tags for individual link categories by:
  1. Clicking on Add/Modify/Delete Categories from the left main menu navigation of your control panel.
  2. Click on the category name that you would like to create customized <TITLE> tag information for.
  3. Use the input box labeled Page <title> to create your custom <TITLE> tag for this category.
  4. Click the Modify or Delete Categories button to submit your changes.

Create Customized <META> Tags For Individual Categories
  1. Click on Add/Modify/Delete Categories in your left main menu navigation of your control panel.
  2. Click on the category title that you wish to add customized meta tags to.
  3. Scroll to the control box labeled Value of <meta name="description" content="..."> underneath the category.
  4. Place the meta tag information in the control box.
  5. Click on the Modify or Delete Categories button to submit your changes.

Create Customized Filename Prefixes For Individual Categories
  1. Click on Add/Modify/Delete Categories in your left main menu navigation of your control panel.
  2. Click on the Category Title that you wish to create a custom filename prefix for.
  3. Scroll down to the text input box labeled Category Filename Prefix beneath the category.
  4. Type the new filename prefix such as business, travel or poker into the input box.
  5. Click on the Modify or Delete Categories button to submit your changes.
The next time that FTP upload occurs, categories with custom filename prefixes will be uploaded under the new name.

Show/Hide Categories/Subcategories On Your Links Menu Page
  1. Click on Add/Modify/Delete Categories in your accounts left navigation menu
  2. Click on the name of the category or subcategory that you wish to show/hide on your links menu page.
  3. Once the detailed record opens up for the category or subcategory, uncheck the box labeled Show on main menu checkbox.
  4. Click on Modify or Delete categories button.
The category or subcategory will now be hidden on your links menu page. Make sure to FTP upload fresh copies of your links pages to your server so that these updates will be seen under your domain name as well.

Change A Top-Level Category Into A Sub-Category
  1. Click on Add/Modify/Delete categories in your left navigation menu.
  2. Click on the Category Name that you wish to edit.
  3. Once the details open for that category, scroll down to the Is a subcategory of control for that category and change the select box to the name of the Top-level category in which you would like the category that you are editing to be listed beneath.
  4. Click on Submit.
The category that you were editing will now be listed as a subcategory beneath the Top-Level category that you chose for it to be beneath.

Change A Sub-Category Into A Top-Level Category
  1. Click on Add/Modify/Delete categories in your left navigation menu.
  2. Click on the Category Name that you wish to edit.
  3. Once the details open for that category, scroll down to the Is a subcategory of control for that category and change the select box to Top Level
  4. Click on Submit.
The sub-category will now become a top-level category.

Turn On/Off Link Counts For Categories/Subcategories

Top-Level Categories
  1. Click on Cosmetic Controls in your left navigation menu.
  2. Click on Links Menu controls.
  3. Scroll down to the Links Menu - Total Number of Links
  4. Change the value of the Include total number of links listed in each category?? control.
  5. Click Save Changes
Subcategories
  1. Click on Cosmetic Controls in your left navigation menu.
  2. Click on Links Menu controls.
  3. Scroll down to the Links Menu - SubCategories controls.
  4. Change the value of the Include total number of links listed in each category? control.
  5. Click Save Changes

Delete A Category or Subcategory That Has No Title

  1. Click on Add/Modify/Delete Categories in your left navigation menu.
  2. Scroll down to a green bar that has no category title assigned to it.
  3. Click on the EDIT hyperlink in the green bar that has no title assigned to it.
  4. Once the detailed record opens for the category, scroll down to and check the "Delete?" checkbox.
  5. Confirm that you would like to delete the subcategory with no title.
  6. Click Save Changes.
The category or sub-category that did not have a title assigned to it will be deleted and removed from your links pages.

How do I get the subcategories to not display on the Links Main Menu page?


Having subcategories displaying on the Main Menu page is a category specific setting when you are setting up your categories. You can take the subcategories back off your main menu page as follows:
  1. Click 'Add/Modify/Delete Categories' link in your control panel.
  2. Click the name of a subcategory that you want to remove from the main menu.
  3. UNCHECK the 'Show on Main Menu' checkbox.
  4. Click on the 'Modify or Delete Categories' button at the bottom of the list.
  5. Proceed to the next subcategories details section to make further changes.


Add <location> to the Link Approved Email or Active Link Reminder Email

  1. Click on Manage Email Notification in the left account navigation.
  2. Click on either Edit Link Approved Email (LAE) or Edit Active Reciprocal Link Reminder Email (ARLRE).
  3. Edit the text of each email to include "Your link can be found on our links pages at <location>".
  4. Click on 'Submit Changes'
Optionally, you can simply scroll to the bottom of the email editor page and click on the 'Click here to restore the default body text for the Active Reciprocal Link Reminder Email' hyperlink. Doing so will return the email notification to your accounts default setting but will then include the new <location> variable.

Create A Backup Copy of Current Cosmetic Settings
  1. Click on Cosmetics Backup/Restore in your left navigation menu.
  2. Create a name for your cosmetic backup. A date will automatically be appended to the name that you create once the Backup button is pressed.
  3. Click on the Backup button.

Restore A Backup Copy of Cosmetic Settings
  1. Always make a backup copy of your current settings before restoring an older version. See Create A Backup Copy of Current Cosmetic Settings for more information on creating a backup copy of your cosmetics.
  2. Click on Cosmetics Backup/Restore in your left navigation menu.
  3. Choose a saved version of your cosmetics from the Cosmetics Restore drop-down select box.
  4. Type yesin the confirm text box to verify that the copy of your cosmetics that you have chosen to restore is correct.
  5. Click on Restore.
  6. Click on Cosmetic Controls in your left navigation menu to load the selected cosmetic settings.
The new cosmetic settings will be visible on your links pages immediately if your links pages are located on the LinksManager server. Changes will be visible on your server once FTP upload has occurred . Always make sure to refresh your browser when viewing.

Add My Banner Information/HTML To My Links Submitted Successfully Page
  1. Click on Cosmetic Controls in your left navigation menu.
  2. Click on Miscellaneous Cosmetic Controls.
  3. Scroll down to the Link Submitted Successfully Page Top Text' control. Here, you will see the HTML that currently displays on your Links Successfully Submitted page. Simply add or edit any HTML that you would lie to display on your Link Submitted Successfully page.
  4. Click on Save Changes.
To view the changes, you will need to submit a test link via your Add Links Page.

Edit Reciprocal Link Reminder Email (RLRE)
  1. Click on Manage Email Notifications in your left navigation menu.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Edit Reciprocal Link Reminder Email hyperlink.
  3. Scroll down to the edit controls and modify the email text.
  4. Click on Submit Changes

Send Reciprocal Link Reminder Email (RLRE)
  1. Click on Manage Email Notifications in your left navigation menu.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Send Reciprocal Link Reminder Email hyperlink.
The Reciprocal Link Reminder Email will be sent to all links in your account that have a valid email address.

Manually Start FTP Upload
  1. Click on FTP upload controls in your left navigation menu.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the control page.
  3. Click the button labeled FTP upload my links pages NOW.
Updated copies of your links pages will then get sent to your web server. Make sure to refresh your browser when viewing your link pages after FTP upload is complete.

Change The File Extensions Of All Uploaded Link Page Files
  1. Click on FTP upload controls in your left navigation menu.
  2. Scroll to the File Extension control and select the desired file extension for your links page files from the drop-down select box.
  3. Should you wish to create a file extension that is not provided in the drop-down select box, choose Other in the select box and then enter your custom file extension in the Other: input box.
  4. Click on Save Upload Settings.
Your links page files will now upload using the chosen file extension. Make sure that you change the links on your website to point to the links menu page with the new file extension.

Approve A Link
  1. Click on Approve or Delete Pending links in your left navigation menu.
  2. Click on the Website name of the link that you would like to approve.
  3. Once the detailed record for the link opens, scroll to the bottom of the control page and find the Actions drop-down select box.
  4. Select Approve This Listing & Send Link Approved Email.
  5. Click on Submit Action for this Link.
The links that you approve will then be visible on your links pages and can then be further edited using the Modify or Delete Active links controls.

Modify A Link
  1. Click on Approve or Delete Links or Modify or Delete Active Links in your left navigation menu. This choice will depend on whether or not you have previously approved the link.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name of the link that you would like to modify.
  3. Once the detailed record displays for this link, modify the information in any of the control fields.
  4. Click on Submit Changes'
The changes that you make to a link's information will be visible on your links pages immediately if your links pages are located on the LinksManager server. Changes will be visible on your server once FTP upload has occurred .

Display/Hide A Link

  1. Click on Modify or Delete Active Links in your left navigation menu.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name of the link that you would like to cloak/hide on your links pages.
  3. Once the detailed record for the link displays, scroll to the Remove Options control at the bottom of the page.
  4. Choose the Temporarily remove link from Links Pages - Link Remains in Database selection from the drop-down select box.
  5. Click on Submit Changes
The chosen link will then be cloaked/hidden on your links pages immediately if your links pages are located on the LinksManager server. Changes will be visible on your server once FTP upload has occurred .

Delete A Link - Delete Multiple Links

Delete A Single Link
  1. Click on Approve or Delete Links or Modify or Delete Active Links in your left navigation menu. This choice will depend on whether or not you have previously approved the link.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name of the link that you would like to delete.
  3. Once the detailed record for the link displays, scroll to the Remove Options control at the bottom of the page.
  4. Choose a Delete selection from the drop-down select box.
  5. Click on Submit Changes
Delete Multiple Links
  1. Click on Approve or Delete Links or Modify or Delete Active Links in your left navigation menu. This choice will depend on whether or not you have previously approved the link.
  2. Scroll down to the Website Name of the link that you would like to delete.
  3. Check the Delete Checkbox to the left of the Website ID.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the control page.
  5. Type yes into the confirmation box.
  6. Click on the Delete Links button.
The deleted links will be removed from your links pages immediately if your links pages are located on the LinksManager server. Changes will be visible on your server once FTP upload has occurred .

Categorize Or Re-Categorize A Link
  1. Click on Approve or Delete Links or Modify or Delete Active Links in your left navigation menu. This choice will depend on whether or not you have previously approved the link.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name of the link that you want to recategorize.
  3. Scroll down to the Categories select Box or Checkboxes.
  4. Select the Category or Categories that you would like the link to be placed in.
  5. Click on Submit Changes
The changes that you make to a link's categorization will be visible on your links pages immediately if your links pages are located on the LinksManager server. Changes will be visible on your server once FTP upload has occurred .

Turn The Reciprocal Link Checker On For A Link Marked As N/A
  1. Click on Approve or Delete Links or Modify or Delete Active links in your left navigation menu. This choice will depend on whether or not you have previously approved the link.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name that you would like to turn the reciprocal link checker on for.
  3. Once the detailed record opens for the link, click the Enable this link to be checked for link reciprocation hyperlink.
This link will now be checked for reciprocation on the next pass of the link checker.

Queue A Link To Be Checked For Reciprocation
  1. Click on Approve or Delete Links or Modify or Delete Active links in your left navigation menu. This choice will depend on whether or not you have previously approved the link.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name that you would like to re-queue the link checker for.
  3. Once the detailed record opens for the link, scroll to and click on the Re-check this link for reciprocation ASAP hyperlink.
This link will now be checked for reciprocation on the next pass of the link checker.

Set LinksManager To Search For My Link At A Specific URL On A Website
  1. Click on Approve or Delete links or Modify or Delete Active links in your left navigation menu. This choice will depend on whether or not you have previously approved the link.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name of the link that you wish to assign the location of your link to. This location (URL) is where the reciprocal link checker will begin its search for your link on the target website.
  3. Once the details open for the link, scroll down to the Search for this reciprocal link here control.
  4. Paste the URL of the page where your link is located on the website into the input control.
  5. Click on Submit Changes.
The link checker will now begin searching for your link on the reciprocating website in the location (URL) that you designated in the search control.

Force A Reciprocation Status Of YES For A Link
  1. Click on Modify or Delete Active links in your left navigation menu.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name of the link that you wish to force a reciprocation status of Modify or Delete Active links .
  3. Once the details open for the link, scroll down to the Force reciprocation status to YES control.
  4. Select Force from the drop-down select box.
  5. Click on Submit Changes.
The link will now display a gold YES as the reciprocation status for this link.

Add Banners Or Images To A Link
  1. Click on either Approve or Delete Links or Modify or Delete Links in your left navigation menu. This will depend on whether or not the link has been approved.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name of the link that you want to add a banner or graphic to.
  3. Once the detailed record opens for the link, scroll down to the Upload New Graphic control.
  4. Click the Browse button and then locate the banner or image on YOUR LOCAL DRIVE. This means that the banner or image that you are uploading will need to have been saved on your hard local drive prior to beginning this process.
  5. Click on Open once you have located the image on your hard drive.
  6. After the path displays in the control box, Click on Save Changes.

Import Links
  1. Click on the Import Links hyperlink in your left navigation menu.
  2. Paste the URL of the page that you would like to import links from into the input box.
  3. Choose one of the options from the drop-down select box for either categorizing each imported link individually or choosing ONE category for all links imported to be placed in.
  4. Click on Get Links.
  5. LinksManager will then import all of the links from the specified page and display them on the import page.
  6. Examine each listing and place it in an appropriate category or, if you selected ONE category for all imported links, simply verify the information associated with all of the links that you want to import. Deselect the Import checkbox next to any link that you do not wish to import.
  7. Once you are finished checking the links, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Import these links now.
LinksManager will import the selected links and place them in the appropriate category. Repeat these steps for all of your original links pages. Once you have finished importing, make sure to FTP upload the new links to your server by clicking on FTP upload controls in the left main menu of your account, scrolling to the bottom and clicking on FTP upload my links pages NOW. Send Webmaster His/Her Password
  1. Click on Approve or Delete Links or Modify or Delete Active links in your left navigation menu. This choice will depend on whether or not you have previously approved the link.
  2. Scroll down to and click on the Website Name of the link.
  3. Scroll down to the Webmaster Email Address control field.
  4. Click on the Click here to send this webmaster his password hyperlink.
LinksManager will generate a new password and send it out to the webmaster. They can then use their email address and the new password to login through your Modify Links pages.
